14 DAY DESERT TRIP

Cairo  – Siwa Oasis – Bahariya Oasis  – White Desert –  Dakhla Kharga and Farafra Oases – Luxor – Cairo

DAY 1:

Arrival. Visit Cairo city, the pyramids of Giza and Cairo Museum. In the evening visit the famous Khan el-Khalili market and/or El Tanoura sufi dance. (optional). Overnight in hotel.

DAY 2:

Breakfast at the Hotel. Drive to Marsa Matrouh. On the way, visit El Alamein cemetary from the Second World War. Afternoon swim on Cleopatra beach (from pharaonic times). Overnight in hotel.

DAY 3:

Drive to Siwa oasis.  Visit  the Shali fortress and tour the oasis. Dinner and overnight in local hotel

DAY 4:

Breakfast at hotel.  Visit the temple of Alexander The Great, Cleopatra’s Pool  from Roman times and the Mountain of the Dead. After lunch begin the Great Sand Sea off-road tour to Beer Wahed Spring and Sheeata Lake. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

DAY 5:

Breakfast at campsite. Begin the 440 km drive to Bahariya Oasis southwest of Cairo.  Arrive at local hotel for late lunch. Rest and relaxation in the hotel hot spring.  Local visit to the salt lake in the oasis and enjoy watching the sunset from the English Mountain. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

DAY 6:

Breakfast at hotel. Visit to the Black desert (which had an active volcano 40 million years ago). Stop for lunch at Bedouin village with a cool spring to bathe in.  Visit the Crystal Mountain, and drive further into the desert area of »Agabaat«, where we set our camp and relax in the night air under the stars.

DAY 7:

After Bedouin breakfast with fresh bread, enjoy visiting the sand dunes of »Karaween« for sand boarding, followed by lunch at the Roman magic spring. Take a refreshing break under the shady palms and enjoy the wells of the spring. After lunch, visit the White Desert and its famous geological forms. Overnight camping in the magical White Desert.  Enjoy  a Bedouin dinner and party (optional).

DAY 8:

Visit the Old White Desert, the Big Valley and the Small Valley. Lunch by the Roman spring of »Khadra. Continue into the Western Desert (different colours, landscape, large sand dunes). Overnight in a magnificent sheltered location.

DAY 9:

Breakfast at camp. Drive to Farafra Oasis. Visit the heritage museum. Lunch and rest in the hotel. Afternoon free tour of Farafra. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

DAY 10

Drive to Dakhla Oasis. Visit Deer el Hagar temple and the tombs of Mozuaka. After lunch visit El Kaser historic village and overnight camping under the stars.

DAY 11:

Drive to Kharga Oasis.  Visit the museum of Kharga. Lunch. After lunch, visit Hepes temple, Om El Dabadeb and El Labeksa Roman ruins.  Dinner and overnight camp under the stars.

DAY 12:

Breakfast at camp. Drive to Luxor (320 km). Check in to the hotel and have lunch. After lunch visit the Nile River and take a free tour around Luxor. Dinner in a romantic location  next to the Nile River and/or felucca ride. Overnight in the hotel.

DAY 13:

Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast visit the temples of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings.  Lunch.  Free time and/or felucca cruise (optional)

DAY 14:

Return to Cairo/AIrport departure.
