8 DAY DESERT TRIP

Cairo  – Bahariya Oasis – Black Desert – White Desert– Western Desert– Cairo

DAY 1:

Arrival in Cairo, Overnight  in  hotel (in the case of night-time arrival)

DAY 2:

Explore Cairo, visit the pyramids of Giza and Cairo Museum. In the evening visit Khan el-Khalili market and/or El Tanoura sufi dance. (optional). Overnight in hotel.

DAY 3:

After breakfast begin the 360 km drive to Bahariya Oasis.  Lunch at a local hotel. After lunch rest and relaxation  in the hotel hot spring. Late afternoon local visit to the salt lake in the oasis and watch the sun set from the English Mountain. Dinner and overnight in  hotel.

DAY 4:

Morning visit to the Black Desert (which had an active volcano 40 million years ago), stop for lunch at a Bedouin village with a cool spring to bathe in. Visit the Crystal Mountain, and drive further into the desert area of »Agabaat«, where we set our camp and relax in the night air under the stars.

DAY 5:

After Bedouin breakfast with fresh bread, enjoy visiting the sand dunes of »Karaween« for sand boarding, followed by lunch at the Roman magic spring. Take a refreshing break under the shady palms and enjoy the wells of the spring. After lunch, visit the White Desert and its famous geological forms. Overnight  camping  in the magical White Desert, enjoy a Bedouin dinner and party (optional).

DAY 6:

Visit the  Old White Desert, the Big Valley and Small Valley and have lunch by the Roman spring of Khadra. After lunch continue into the Western Desert (different colours, landscape, sand dunes).  Overnight in a magnificent desert location sheltered by large rocks. .

DAY 7:

Return to Bahariya, stopping at the fossil area. After lunch in Bahariya,  visit the Roman mummies museum and two tombs from Pharaonic times. In the evening soak in a natural hot spring in the town. Overnight in hotel.

DAY 8:

Return to Cairo and  drop off at the airport. In the case of a night time flight,  spend the afternoon and evening in the old part of Cairo or take a felucca ride on the NIle at sunset. (optional extras)
