WE LOVE SAFARI

Mostafa loves the desert. It is where his soul comes alive, replenishes itself and feels most at home.

After growing up and first establishing himself in and around the Baharia Oasis in Egypt, love brought him to Slovenia, where he found his second home, becoming a sort of a European Bedouin.

Even as a child, he had a vision – he would dedicate his life to showing the beauty of the desert and the way of life there to his guests, educating himself and others about the wonders of nature and the importance of its preservation. So, as a nine-year-old boy he chose the road less travelled, stepping off of the traditional path. It is when he first started to help a local hotel and today marks a career spanning 25 years.

After finishing his studies, he established his first company, Western Desert Fox Tours, offering desert safaris mostly to foreigners and diplomats working and living in Egypt. He ended up following his heart to Slovenia, where he mostly worked for UNICEF and UNHCR supported NGOs as a translator during the refugee crisis there. He kept in touch with his initial calling by hosting Egyptian themed evenings, where he would present his homeland to his new friends by cooking traditional dishes and playing traditional instruments. He also worked with foreign visitors in Slovenia. Today, he lives between the two countries.

    The trip with Mostafa exceeded all of my expectations. It was very well organized, our travel plan was well thought out and it included all forms of the desert, so we were able to see something new and different every day. We enjoyed the Bedouin food, sleeping in the untouched nature, far away from civilization. We were relaxing by colorful sunsets, dark skies sprinkled with stars and morning sunrises. Unforgettable! The Bedouins really know their desert surroundings so well, they are the most reliable drivers and guides, so we felt safe and well taken care of and looked after in all the aspects.

Everything was perfectly organized and we could fully enjoy our desert experience. With his experience, love, and perfection our trip was magic.     Our trip into the desert with Mostafa was an experience of a life-time. The magnificent views, complete silence, sleeping under the open sky and waking up with the full moon rising in the middle of the night felt beautiful and safe because he made it possible for us. His experience, his friendliness, ability to sense what people need and take such good care of his guests is remarkable. The desert is his home and he is an amazing host. He will take you places that no one else is going. I warmly recommend the desert experience with him to anyone who loves nature.

    We were posted to Cairo with the Irish Embassy in 2009. Mostafa Abdelghany was our driver on our first safari trip in Egypt in 2010. Shortly afterwards he founded his own independent company for safari tours. Mostafa takes great care of logistics; he is a fair and honest team leader and he makes guests feel welcome and safe on his trips. His knowledge of the land and its nature is inspiring and he also included many of the local customs and delicacies on his tours with us and with our friends. Mostafa was extremely popular with children. He organized special events like kite flying and sand boarding for families. He speaks English very well and was a pleasure to work with.
